There must be another
Must be another way

Kol ma shelibi mevakesh omrot
Avarnu ad ko
Derech aruka, derech ko kasha yad beyad

Vehadma’ot zolgot, zormot lashav
Ke’ev lelo shem
Anachnu mechakot
Rak layom sheyavo achrei

There must be another way
There must be another way

Aynaki bit’ul
Rakh yiji yom wu’kul ilkhof yizul
B’aynaki israr
Inhu ana khayar
N’kamel halmasar
Mahma tal

Li’anhu ma fi anwan wakhid l’alakhzan

There must be another way
There must be another way
There must be another
Must be another way

Derech aruka na’avor
Derech ko kasha
Yachad el ha’or
Aynaki bit’ul
Kul ilkhof yizul

And when I cry, I cry for both of us
My pain has no name
And when I cry, I cry
To the merciless sky and say
There must be another way

Vehadma’ot zolgot, zormot lashav
Ke’ev lelo shem
Anachnu mechakot
Rak layom sheyavo achrei

There must be another way
There must be another way
There must be another
Must be another way

English Translation
There Must Be Another Way

There must be another
Must be another way

Your eyes, sister
Say all that my heart desires
So far, we’ve gone
A long way, a very difficult way, hand in hand

And the tears fall, pour in vain
A pain with no name
We wait
Only for the next day to come

There must be another way
There must be another way

Your eyes say
A day will come and all fear will disappear
In your eyes a determination
That there is a possibility
To carry on the way
As long as it may take

For there is no single address for sorrow
I call out to the plains
To the stubborn heavens

There must be another way
There must be another way
There must be another
Must be another way

We will go a long way
A very difficult way
Together to the light
Your eyes say
All fear will disappear

And when I cry, I cry for both of us
My pain has no name
And when I cry, I cry
To the merciless sky and say
There must be another way

And the tears fall, pour in vain
A pain with no name
We wait
Only for the day to come

There must be another way
There must be another way
There must be another
Must be another way

  1. A touching song. And it’s women, mother-may-be, of course, who say they cry for one another. I still feel like crying when I hear it, every time.

  2. I completly agree…This is the best song I heard in a while…It should won the ESC.When I first heard it I didn’t understand it but I could understand the message that this song brings.Since then It’s my favorite song.Greetings from Valjevo,Serbia to Israel and to Noa and Mira Awad!!!

  3. Beautiful song, Deserved better than 16th, but the message was the most touching. To see a united Israel (Arab & Jew) onstage together can set an example to the world, that there are ways to peace

  4. Best, nice, with good news song, to love each other, especialy in Israel. Good plan to sing this kind of song. I love it!!!

  5. I totally LLLOOOOOVVVVEEEE this song. Oh yeah, me too, I highly value the bilinguality of this entry. I’m so happy that “Einaich” ended up to represent Israel. I think it was a huge peaceful step forward, in contrast with Teapacks’s 2007 “Push the Button”.

I wish the whole world could follow suit & vote for tolerance, peace & mutual understanding. I hope all those capital-oriented politics & nasty politicians would go to hell & leave people in peace someday.

Even though I couldn’t make a single word of neither the Arabic nor the Hebrew part, but I instantly liked the song when I first heard it. Thanx to your translation, now I get the message even more clearly.
    A big kiss from Persia.

  6. Waaaaaw…what a duet…i just love it and feel sorry that it didn’t win the contest…i hope every one to understand the melody…

  7. I really love this song! Quite an example of understanding … I wish that Armenia and Azerbaijan would one day follow this example. Yes … wishful thinking.

  8. it’s better so have a song with a political message that the political voting system. this song is beautiful but not for ESC. I gave my vote for it, because of the idea of the song.

  10. I LOVE it!!! I really hope they will win. Till now this song pleases me more than any other I have heard on the Eurovision Song Contest.

  11. Great Song- hope it wins- and there is another way:

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

  12. Bybux: Since never. No more than many of the other participants either. Here is why they can participate (taken from eurovision.tv):

    Who can take part?

Eligible participants include all Active Members of the European Broadcasting Union. Active Members are those whose states fall within the European Broadcasting Area, or otherwise those who are members of the Council of Europe. The European Broadcasting Area is defined by the International Telecommunication Union.

Eligibility to participate is not determined by geographic inclusion within the continent of Europe, despite the ‘Euro’ in Eurovision – nor has it anything to do with the European Union. Israel, a Middle Eastern country has been taking part in the contest since 1973. In 1980, Morocco – a North African country – participated in the contest.

  13. Song is quiet good. But I have another question. Every time when i watch Eurovision song contest I can not understand one thing: “Since when Israel is part of Europe?”
    Can someone explain me that?

this song somebody can translate to spanish?

  15. Another song I’ve fallen in love with. <3

I also loved Boaz Mauda’s Ke’ilo kan last year, but this one is easier to sing. 😀 You should hear me sing Ke’ilo kan, it sounds like crap. xD haha!

  16. The song is very beautiful and moving. And I don’t mind even the English part. I agree that politics shouldn’t be a factor in voting in ESC, but sadly it is. Yes, this song shows that the people want peace. Let’s hope that this song makes a difference.

  17. It’s cool that they sing in Arabic after all the battle between Arabs and Israelis..shows that the people want peace.
The best thing for me is if they both got independent countries..
And yea I don’t like the English part either.

  18. Yes. They sing it in 3 languages: English, Hebrew and Arabic.
I’ve added Hebrew and Arabic script.

Here is the official video for the 2009 Israeli Eurovision entry

I must say – I like it, minus the English part which sort of pokes me in the eye!

And yes, according to the official rules of the Eurovision Song Contest, Eurovision songs can be performed in any language (including imaginary – artificial language like Belgium did twice: Sanomi in 2003 and O Julissi in 2008) and partially or completely in English.

  19. Is a part of this in arabic? Two things make me think that: a part sounds more like that than hebrew, and the subtitles are in arabic at the hebrew part and suddenly change to hebrew subtitles. (both languages at the english parts)
That would if so be a good thing to do, thinking about all the conflicts that have been and such.
The song otherwise is quite decent I think, I liked last year’s one better though.
Some people maybe won’t vote cause of the Gaza conflicts, but I don’t hope so. Politics should not be mixed with this.
I won’t judge these singers and the song just cause of what they did in Gaza and so on. That has to do with the politicians, not them..
and the song seems to have a good message to so..
    But it’s not a winner.

  20. so touching!
the words, their voices, the music!
I hope it wins! maybe the message could also be delivered if they win!
