The Secret of Dima Bilan’s Believe

This was “backed up” with the alleged fraud that supposedly happened because people were mostly not even allowed to vote i.e. that, when they tried, they’d get a message back “Your vote can”t be accepted” or there was “The wrong number” answer if they called to submit their vote. These allegations go further with claims that the internet voting link was incorrectly given to the public…

We can (only) assume that the above came mostly from minds of those who saw this video and concluded that he has a drug problem:

Then there is the other story… Russian media speculating on the subject: is he gay or has he just adopted “that kind of image” due to marketing reasons? There is a third explanation as well, according to which the thing is clear considering that Saša Tićanko is in charge of his marketing and he made the girl band Tatu famous by “turning them into” fake lesbians!

If it’s true, better for the Russian model Elena Kulecka considering that in that case she is just a fake girlfriend and therefore, probably not too upset with the gossip that came from Belgrade hotel “Hyatt”where he was staying during Eurovision. Supposedly, Dima didn’t waste his time making long phone calls to her and she had read in newspapers that he was cheating on her so she suddenly decided to come to Belgrade for the Final.

Two years ago, at the time when he released his album “Time-River”, Dima recorded a music video with Elena for his song “Eto bila ljubov” (”It was love”). The erotic scenes that caused arguments on Russian conservative scene was proven to be a big success and Dima became even more popular with an army of female fans. After that, he continued with the same image and made a set of photographs on a very edge of pornography.

Whether he is hiding his true sexuality or not, one thing is for sure - Dima has gays’ and girls’ attention!

Country with the biggest number of 12 points is Armenia. It received the highest score from: Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Greece, Netherlands, Poland and Russia.

Russia got 12 points 7 times; from: Armenia, Belarus, Estonia, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine.

Greece, 6 times; from: Albania, Cyprus, Germany, Romania, San Marino, United Kingdom.

Serbia, 4 times, from: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia and Switzerland.

Azerbaijan received 12 points from Hungary and Turkey, Bosnia from Serbia and Croatia, Denmark from Iceland and Norway, Norway from Finland and Sweden, and Romania from Moldova and Spain.

The following countries received the highest score one time: Albania (from Macedonia), Germany (from Bulgaria), Iceland (from Denmark), Latvia (from Ireland), Spain (from Andorra), Sweden (from Malta), Turkey (from Azerbaijan) and Ukraine from Portugal.

Six of Russia’s sets of 12 points came from former USSR countries and the seventh country that awarded Dima with 12 points is Israel, a country with strong Russian diaspora. Six Western European countries are the only ones that did not give any points to Russia: Denmark, Iceland, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Sweden and San Marino. The Netherlands and France awarded only one point to Dima and Belgium also gave Russia only 3 points.

But let’s not pick on Russia… Same thing happened with other countries.. We can only mention the famous example of Greece and Cyprus as well as Serbia and Croatia who gave 12 points to Bosnia and Bosnia, of course returned the favor.

The basketball legend Vlade Divac threw a ball in the audience announcing the start of voting and we came till the end of voting with famous Goran Bregovic.

At the beginning it looked as if Greece was going to win and after Icelandic votes they had equal number of votes like Russia.

Czech Republic will remember this evening for sure because the announcer of their votes mixed up 10 and 12 points which eventually were meant for Armenia.

When there were two countries left till the end of voting Russia had 53 points more than Greece.

LyricsTranslations.Com visitors have voted for their favorite entry prior to the Final of Eurovision 2008

A survey that included more than 2000 journalists at the Eurovision press centre predicts that Ukrainian entrant Ani Lorak will be the winner of Eurovision 2008.

Her song “Shady Lady” has won 11,9% of votes in the official survey while Serbian representative Jelena Tomašević, with “Oro” got only one vote less.

Portuguese Vânia Fernandes won third place with her powerful voice, with just two votes difference from Jelena.

Young Israeli singer Boaz Mauda is on fourth place (with 8,7% of votes), followed by ex Eurovision winner Charlotte Perelli, with one vote difference.

7,7% of the journalists voted for Azerbaijani angel and devil, Elnur Houseynov and Samir Javadzade, and therefore placed them on the six place, ahead of Kalomoira who received 7,5% of all the votes.

Turkish “ultra-violet” rock band Mor Ve Otesi beat the big Russian Dima with 16 points difference leaving him at ninth place.

The last of the ten favorites, is Georgian Diana Gurtskaya, who won 5,7% of the journalists votes

The official survey conducted among the journalists before the first semi-final has proven to be incredibly precise because they guessed nine out of ten finalists.

And first good news - Turkey but… then a long long break! Many contestants that probably deserved to qualify still hadn’t been listed…
They ask the audience who they think is in the last envelope… And the audience very clearly agrees with me - Portugal! Portugal!

As per the new Eurovision rules, and due to the fact that there are two semi-finals, only participants in each of the semis and 2 of the Big Four countries, plus the hosting country, decided by draw, get to vote in each of the semi-finals.

Nine finalists from the semi-finals are decided by audience, while a tenth one is chosen by national expert juries. Each participating country has an expert jury consisting of people from the music industry or music lovers and their names remain unknown so that they can not be influenced. A song that gets the biggest number of votes from the jury from 43 countries, and which has not already been chosen by the public votes, goes to the final.
The principle is not applicable for the Eurovision final where only the public votes will be deciding on the winner.

How many times can we vote? 
During the fifteen minute voting period at both of the semi-finals and at the Eurovision final, the audience can call or send SMS maximum 20 times from the same telephone number to vote for their favorite Eurovision entry (and, of course, the voters can not vote for their own country).

Novak Djokovic announced start of the voting by throwing a ball “somewhat” bigger than the usual tennis ball with his autogram in the audience
Though he was saying that there are people more competent to sing, Zeljko insisted to make “poor” Nole try his luck in that department.

After 15 minutes given for voting, and a Serbian instrumental by Slobodan Trkulja, Krstina and Bane informed us that nobody fainted (yet) in the green room…
While everyone was dying to hear the results.. we watched clips of entries by the Big Four and Serbia, then some contestants… including (so not cute) Kalomoira (sorry Greek fans!)

If I had a say in it, the Big Four would need to step out to make place for some other entries!

And finally, the results:

Then, Jovana… complaining she can’t open her first envelope.. But, finally she announced the second finalist - Romania!

Lights and various decors hanging on the ceiling weigh 72 tons!

In accordance with the basic theme of the event, the stage symbolizes confluence of two Belgrade rivers as well as of different cultures and confluence of sound.

So far, everyone seems to be applauding the stage for it’s style, sophistication and ability to change its look and feel for all the songs, with comments that it is shaping up to be one of the best looking stages in the history of the competition.

After the rehearsals, Hind from the Netherlands and Charlotte Perrelli from Sweden said that they have struggled to avoid slipping, which seems to be the only disaster potential so far.
Let’s hope nobody will fall down during the event!

He also composed the 2006 Eurovision song ‘Lejla‘, performed by Hari Mata Hari at Eurovision 2008 for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
