Dino Merlin & Zeljko Joksimovic – Supermen

Dino:

Ugosticu joj sne
bolje im’ je kod mene
neka spavaju sve dok se ne promijene

Zeljko:
like to the dearest friend (kao najdrazem prijatelju)
Ljubav se nepise tako, oko za oko zub za zub !
O’ ne ja nemogu vise,ja sam stigao na rub
Svaka mi rec strazu dobija, svaki mi most na Drini cuprija

Dino:
Sta je to sveto nocas i vijecno ,
Zivote sivi
Zeljko:
Sve je to ono pred cim drhitis a cemu se divis

Oprosticu joj sve
nisam ja supermen
pa da mogu to na ledjima da ponesem
Ugosticu joj sne
bolje im’ je kod mene
neka spavaju sve dok se ne promijene

English Translation

Superman

Dino:
How do you spell love, is it one word?
or there are always at least two words
people have always been getting together, loving each other and still separating

I will forgive her everything
I’m not a superman
so that I could carry that on my back
I will host her dreams
they are better off with me
let them sleep until they change

Zeljko:
Like to the dearest friend
That’s not how you spell love, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth!
O’ no I can’t handle this anymore, I’ve reached the edge
Every word gets a guard, every bridge is the bridge on the Drina

Dino:
What’s sacred and eternal tonight,
gray life,
Zeljko:
It’s all that makes you shiver but what you admire

I will forgive her everything
I’m not a superman
so that I could carry that on my back
I will host her dreams
they are better off with me
let them sleep until they change

  1. actually. its in Bosnian to tell you the truth.
dino merlin samo pjeva na bosanski.
    thank you

    1. Sara, have you actually listened to the lyrics??
Dino Merlin pjeva na bosanski i Zeljko Jokzimovic pjeva na srpski… and oh, wait! Croats understand every single word too! And even Slovenes, Macedonians, Bulgarians would understand most of it…
People abroad are learning your language because of beautiful songs like this one…
Get over the language NAME, please.

  2. Thanks admin! Glad to know you’re a fan 🙂
I agree with you. Though it’s not always the case (we’ve had some crappy music on ESC), Portugal’s entries for Eurovision 2008 and 2009 are very nice songs that capture a part of our spirit and traditions! Good luck for both our countries! 😉

  3. Thank you Paula! 🙂
I am a great fan of Portuguese music as well and loving your Eurovision 2008 and 2009 entries! 🙂

  4. Hello all! I’m from Portugal and a fan of Balkan music ever since I saw Lane Moje by Zeljko Joksimovic on ESC… Thank you for sharing this Supermen video (only found out about it now)! Very beautiful music indeed 😉 Already a favourite! I can’t understand a word (so thanks for the translation), but that does not prevent me from enjoying every second of it.. your language sounds great! Like other fellows have said, your lovely music compels us to learn more about your culture!

  6. Thanks Vladimir for the comment. And yes, I agree. Music is one of the good things the old Yugoslavia had!
Now we have a show called “Operacija trijumf” which is a sort of a mix between the “Big Brother” reality TV series and talent contest “Pop Idol” with participants from ex Yugoslavia, covered by national TVs of Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia and Serbia and I am absolutely happy because of the YU mix. 🙂

  7. I think so, I am chilean, I do not undestand serbo-croata: but melody is excellent. So I will try to learn original pronunciation to play and sing it. Really: It is a very good motive to read and talk about former Yugoslavia.

  8. best song ever made :). you need to understand the serbian language to get this song the right way 😉

  9. This song is so amazing. I get goosebumps everytime I listen to it. Serbian is such a beautiful language. 🙂 Thanks for the translation. Cheers!
